CURRENT PROJECTS
Zoar Excavations
(Khirbet Sheik ‘Isa)
Shepherds Institute of Archaeology, Dr. Titus Kennedy, and Joel Kramer have joined forces with renowned archaeologist Dr. Konstantinos Politis to conduct a dig at Zoar (Ghor as-Safi), the city where Lot fled with his family, in the region of the Five Cities of the Plain. Of these five cities, two have been tentatively identified—Sodom and Gomorrah—but Zoar is key in locating these ancient sites since it was the site that was not destroyed and remained inhabited. The first phase of this dig took place in January-February 2025 and the planning for future digs is currently underway.
Dr. Titus Kennedy serves as the director of the Shepherds Institute of Archaeology.
